Barrel Hinges?
« on: September 11, 2006, 07:20:06 AM »
Hello,

I read about the use of "Barrel Hinges" for flap and elevator attachment but  I am not sure just what they are.  I've looked through Tower's hinge inventory and find nothing listed.  I have also checked Brodak's catalog and there's no barrel hinges there.

Perhaps someone can explain just what a barrel hinge is?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

That's the term that was given to the regular nylon hinges that are joined by wire pins many years ago in a Galaxay far, far away!   n~

We have always just called those "hinge points", since that's what Robart named them years ago. They work great but are a royal PITA to get aligned properly. Not only do you worry about vertical and horizontal alignment, they can also rotate slightly and drive you nuts as the epoxy sets up.  **)
