My Electric Vector ARF was delivered today. So far I have opened the box, unwrapped the major assemblies, and read the instruction booklet. At first glance everything looks good.
I have to say I DO NOT LIKE wrapping the third pass of leadout wire around the outside of the crimp tube then back through. If you’re going to use the crimp method, I would prefer to see it folded over and passed through the tube as per the AMA rulebook method. Mechanically it probably makes no difference, but it looks cleaner.
The construction looks very well done. Covering is nice, might need a little bit of ironing here or there, but nothing horrible.
The bellcrank looks to be well mounted, adjustable leadout slider is just as I would make it with the white plastic block. Hardware package looks good, but I’m going to be using DuBro barrel hinges, not the CA hinges supplied.
One discrepancy I noticed was the recommended motor. On the box it says 2820, in the instruction book it says 2826. My gut tells me the 2820 will be enough. If it comes out tail heavy then 2826 might just be the ticket.
All in all I’m pleased with it, and impressed by the craftsmanship.
Tomorrow is a busy day. Assembly will likely start Friday.
