WERE DOES A GILBERT ENGINE GO?

This is a prototype of a kit that is do out in about two months from Black Hawk Models.....note the Gilbert engibe in it?

Yes, Jim, that is it. It is the counter-part to our Perky. I can see races between the two models. There is another picture in the Speed section.

Now that looks great. I was tempted with a Perky but to ugly. This looks real good.

Hi Larry ---That looks great..    I have been using the Gilbert .11 engines for trainers for kids to fly.   Usually
in a Sig  Buster or Shoestring.  The engines do pretty well and seem to be easy to start - I have been very
lucky to have been able to buy NEW engines and can get parts easily.  I have one of your Tenderfoot kits I am going to put a Gilbert in.

I am very interested in you kit when it comes out.

That tail sure reminds me of a Ringmaster! It is a cool looking old plane. But I need to get my Perky finished first.

Oh, I love that! My next kit! I have two .11 Gilberts, haven't fired them yet. (they are new ones also)
  What a beautiful airplane! P47 Jug-ish, wing is gorgeous. Upright engine, Ringmaster-type elevator. This one will nostaligate me every time I pick it up!

I have a nice Webra 1.5CC Record Diesel should work well.

Dan,
The Webra 09 diesel is a nice engine but i think that if I get one of these I'm going to use my Webra 12 RE. I'll need 52 ft lines just to keep up with it. Should be fun.

I don't know for sure but I heard Johnson made the engines for Gilbert.

that had new Gilbert equipment stored in it.   I bought a number of new engines and parts from him and
received everything fine includingf original Gilbert glow heads.   The only thing I haven't been able to get are
the spinners that snapped into the Gilbert props.

How about two Gilberts on a Grumman Skyrocket? I have been toying with this idea enough that I thought I would take a pic or two and show them around. This picture shows the idea best. For more pics check out my build thread.

Has anyone done a Gilbert glow head mod to make it take short standard plugs? I have a NIB .11 but haven't ran it because of the weird glow head.(I have one spare) Doesnt look like it would be too hard to do..

Probably would not be hard to do but since it hasn't been made yet, why not go with a turbo plug instead?
I have read plenty about conversion heads for the Cox engines and most swear that by using the standard type plug you lose 1,000 RPM! Using a Turbo head adaptor negates that loss because the plug seals at the bottom by using a tapered seal.

That question should belong in a different thread as you can see it can lead away from its original purpose. We don't want to hijack the man's thread!
