APS is Advanced Photo System. I got a Kodak "Advantix C700" for my wife when they were popular. They were automatic, and much simpler to operate that my 35mm cameras. The roll could be automatically rewound before it was full so it could be removed to switch rolls. When you inserted a partially filled roll, it would automatically advance the film to the first unexposed spot. The idea was to have rolls for different subjects.
I kept my exposed film rolls and pictures in Kodak book-like containers, and STUPIDLY threw out the individual roll containers.
Then the whole world went digital.
BTW, I still have the perfectly good camera and a spare battery.
