New Twin Boom Build
« on: July 17, 2007, 02:01:15 PM »
Just finished gluing this up.  Built from memory of a Lil' Satan I had 25 years ago.  Thinking about calling it "The Hornet"  Ribs are 1/16" balsa, with 2 being 3/32".  Wingspan is 27" with 182 sq inches of area.  Bout 9 1/2 " long including the elevator, which is stitched on using Minnesota Modellers method of needle and sewing thread (Props to you MM).

Going to power with either a .049 Norvel, or a .061 Wasp, depends on which one runs better on a balloon tank.  Wing covering will be red monocote with the tail being either black or corsair blue.

Where will you put the balloon?

And incidentally, you apparently have an original...I never sewed a stabilator onto booms.  But thanks anyhow.

P.S. Looks like it will go like a terror...I'd stick with the .049 in self defense!

The ballon will go in between the ribs on the outboard wing inside of a mini M&M's container.  Fits perfect.  Probably will go with the .049, and put the .061 on the other new plane I built as its a little heavier.
