Sell them quick, before people realize that the price is high because other people are seeing the high price, not because they have nearly that much intrinsic value.

Or, use their intrinsic value the way that Leroy Cox intended -- put them on planes and go have fun with 'em!  In 50 years these things will be so far obsolete that no one will care; you certainly won't be seeing them sell for $400 a pop unless that's what a candy bar costs, too.

   And that wasn't even an early one in the clear "crystal" box! The TD .020 has brought a pretty high price for a long time, because of the popularity of .020 replica free flight competition. And like has already been mentioned, most N.I.B. examples probably have been pressed into use. The .010 used to bring big money, but they made another run of those with different color plastic and seemed to cool them off for a while. Never saw one got for this much, but  100 to 150 bucks for a N.I.B. example in the clear box. I bought one of the second run engine N.I.B. for ten bucks at a plastic model car swap meet once. There are probably many more out there. I wonder if there is any idea of total production numbers? Of any of the Cox engines?
   I have several good used and some N.I.B TD.020s but don't plan to sell. I would probably just blow the money on something else. I could scrape together or earn 400 bucks one way or another, but not find more TD.020s as easily.

Man! That's totally ridiculous.   I bought a N.I.B. TD .020 from a hobby shop about 5 months ago for $50.  I was looking for a tank mount for a .049, and the hobby shop owner couldn't understand what I was asking.  He goes in the back and comes out with the TD .020 in the clear plastic box and asks if that is what I was looking for.  I said ,"No, not quite.  But what do you want for the .020?"  He said make an offer, and I said $50.  He said deal, and I took it home.  I should have tried $30 as a starting point...

This is the second TD .020 in the last few months that went for an unreasonable price.

Of course I'm rubbing my hands together now that I can afford a better old folks home. I have 10 or 12 of these and 6 or 7 are NIB!

Well that looks really good, I too like to build twins, for either the Cox 0.01 or 0.02. But my efforts pale into insignificance to your XF11! I have 2 x 0.02s in a Mosquito, that flies well. I do have a spare 0.02 which is over the hill. Looks as if I am never going to afford another 0.02 at the current prices. At least the Pee Wee has the same cylinder/ piston as the TD, so maybe I can buy a Pee Wee and cannibalise it for the P/L. I am not sure what to do if the case is worn! I wish there were not so many collectors around! They get seriously in the way of flying some of this old stuff!
