AMERICAN FLYER KIT STOPED
« on: August 28, 2010, 02:08:57 PM »
I have notified our dealers that the American Flyer kit will not be available after September and there is only a few left, less than twenty.  The American flyer is a basic kit with everything in it : Engine, tank, glow clip, props, handle, lines, sandpaper and cement (glue).  It sold for $50.00 and everyone who flew it and called us had glowing reports.  The trouble was that few dealers picked up the kit, most found that more money could be made selling everything seperatly.  So for those who might be interested here are the dealers how have some:
John's Hobby Shop                  Wings and Wheels
Mansfield, Ohio                        Tyler, Tx.

Sam' Stuff and Hobbies            Boon's Hobbies
Gatewood, Mo.                         Long Beach, Ca.

Well, that's a pity.  I thought that sounded like a really neat kit, and if you'd caught me at the right point of my modeling career I probably would have sprung for one (not now -- I'm working through a bucket of Cox engines, I certainly don't need more).  I did give that dealer information you sent me to my LHS owner, but to say that he's 'kinda' busy is more than 'kinda' an understatement.  We're trying to get him interested in control line, but so far there's only two of us, and he has this silly notion that it's his shop and that it should make money.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

We will still be producing the "Army Scout" which is the plane that is in the "American Flyer" and as a matter of fact we have just been contracted to make them for Cox. soo they will still be available.
Our second R/C plane will be coming out in about a month, that might help you to convince the hobby store to carry our kits.
