Ace Warbird for C/L
« on: April 24, 2012, 10:48:44 AM »
In 1973 RCM had a set of plans for three warbirds using Ace foam wings. If I remember correctly it used a set of tapered chord wings and a 6"constant chord center section. Since it was for mini R/C it had a built up fuselage.. Would this be a good plane to convert to C/L?
I have 3 sets of tapered wings and a set of constant chord so I could easily build all three planes. Would a Norvel .061 be adequate power or to much.

The problem will be that the Ace wings are only semi-symmetrical.  For sport scale and casual flying, not a problem, but a real bear if you want insides and outsides to fly the same. (It can be done with thrust and bellcrank adjustments, but it isn't easy!  I managed with an undercambered Firebaby, but it was extremely challenging.)
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Corehouse sells some foam combat wings that would work better.
