Does Anyone Restore McCoy Engines?
« on: April 24, 2015, 11:41:01 AM »
Greetings!  I'm writing this on behalf of one of my flying buddies, Richard Burns, asked if there's anyone who can restore the old McCoy 35 engines.  He has one that really has little to no compression left; I mean you don't "flip" the prop ... you pretty much just freewheel it!!   ;D  So I figured I'd post this request and forward any replies to him.  Thanks for your patience and support in advance.  For further information / description of the engine you can reach him direct at: rburns12@cfl.rr.com

Another person you may want to contact is Shelley Romo, AKA E-Bay's verysassyblond. She sells McCoy gasket kits, parts and I think she also does rebuilding engines, as she has posted her rebuild jobs on YouTube.

Scott Riese ,  can be found on this site.  Ran in my McCoy .35 (new old stock) to perfection.  Rebuilds many McCoy .35 with much expertise.

Hi Phil,

I have a fair selection of plugs that will work in your new McCoy 35, if you need one.

Randy Smith in the vendors section has new Thunderbolt hot plugs (the best by most peoples experience) for about six bucks. He recently moved, and did not have the plugs listed on his web site, but his phone number should be available on his site, or do a search for posts by Randy Smith.

Enjoyed watching you start your McCoy at Delta Park. I hope to get out on Wed again, and will watch for you.

Thanks Bill, I plan to come out, barring getting called in to work last minute.   I was great to see my McCoy run and the smell of that castor reminded me of my childhood.

I must admit I love running my old McCoy Red Heads more than any other engine.  I really like my PA's, Aero Tigers, and ST contest engines, but for sheer joy (probably all nostalgic in nature) nothing beats a good McCoy .40 RH in a great Classic era ship. ;D

You mentioned it may be possible that we could go in halves on a 4 pack castor fuel in the near future?  Now building my Ringmaster to go along with the, thanks to you, fine running McCoy.
