I heard on a news or talk program early in the war that Putin said he was after the Nazi's. Then it was said that during the Great Patriotic War the Catholics sided with the Germans. So is this true? So Putin now sees all Catholics as Nazi's so the victims in the newly found mass graves are they mostly Catholic?

In World War II the Nazis invaded the USSR.

To this very day, communists have an ongoing habit of labeling ALL of their enemies "nazis". 

This is not unlike the senseless labels that some political groups paste on their enemies everywhere.
