Ideally Castle Creations ESC but any can be used provided it has governor mode.

There is programming for setting type of speed control, fixed three points for the type ESC Castle Creations or linear for the other ESC's.

If you click on the "ARQUIVOS" tab at the home page of the link in Rogerio´s posting you can download further info. It is in Portuguese but Google can help.

I exchanged a few emails last fall with Rogerio Fiorotti  about his latest timer. Rogerio soon asked if I would like to try it out. Of course, I said yes. The timer arrived in the mail on the 2nd of January 2016. The timer does work great with the Castle Phoenix Ice Lite 50 ESC. All I had to do is get used to the "Blinking" LED to program it. I received some nice emails input from Rogerio Fiorotti, Guilherme Souza and Paul Allen on making sure that I programming the timer correctly. I have seen the accelerometers used on FPV RC quads. I like the response of the accelerometers and wanted to try it out on a control line model airplane as well. This timer with the accelerometer is totally different than I used before. This was a slow learning curve for me (my fault). My simple electric test stand was well used to start this project. I first got the timer to work the way I wanted to on my test stand. Then I installed timer in a converted Vector 40 for the test flight model. The weather here in Virginia finally let for me put up one test flight yesterday afternoon. The Rogerio Fiorotti worked just like it was supposed to. The electric motor acting like it was running on a two - four break does makes the pattern very nice to fly. I enjoyed using the Rogerio Fiortti timer (especially while watching the power increase as the model is going up on the wingover and during the loops). Once I learn all the aspects to the timer, I should able to dial it in so it will match the motor and airplane together for one sweet ride. The English version of the instructions are attached:

John really hope you enjoyed the Timer, I am sending this week one for Paul Allen replacing the previous sent.

The manual had a fix to avoid confusion speed gain setting on the climb.

Graph taken from the ESC Castle, note the accelerometer's performance by varying the engine speed during level flight and maneuvering.

Here are a couple of pictures of the timer: The backside has three sets of pin connectors. The four pin set is for the accelerometer. The three pin set next to the accelerometer is for the ESC. The last set is for the landing gear. (I do not have a retract servo so I was not able to check that out). Located on the front side of the timer you can see the LED and push button. I like everything in one small package.

Here is the bottom of the fuselage of the Vector 40 test vehicle, (this Vector 40 was converted from glow power almost six years ago). The accelerometer was attached close the C/G with the supplied double sided foam tape. Instead of drilling more holes in the side of the fuselage, the timer was placed inside of the cowl. A perfect place to install the timer was at the front of one of the exhaust cooling vents. I did grind away some balsa at the rear of the cowl so the accelerometer leads had a non-obstructive path.

Hi Rogerio
Very nice work and compact design, watched all the videos.
I like the thought of setting up a "classic" 424 type engine run.
Are you planning on mass production or are you building each as ordered?
I see your website is not working, so how would someone order one and what is the price?

Good job Rogerio I see the site is working again.
What if I wanted more than one timer, would the $25 shipping cover more than one timer?

Hi,
Does your timer add and reduce RPM from the set RPM or does it only add RPM?  I know Igor's adds and reduces RPM.

Thank you.

Cris.

Are distinct thing, the accelerometer adds and reduces the rpm depending on the acceleration exerted on the model.
The addition rpm with the nose-up does not depend on the model acceleration adds only a small amount  rpm of which can be adjusted.

Dear

I'm always working to offer a product that meets all and made some changes in the firmware to improve the performance of the Timer, nothing big just a few adjustments.

The Timer provided to his friend John Tate basically is the same and their operation is correct, but the manual he posted only serves to release the timer he has.

The new version is in www.metaenergia.com.br site - in the files folder.

With the understanding of all I will always be available for any question.

I measure the lap time and change the rpm for the desired time, if you have an rpm set for your setup will have to use a tachometer to adjust.

Mr Fiorotti is there a chance to have the timer without the plugin pins for accelerometer programming and servo removed. I was thinking to have them placed remotely. The idea is to solder wires instead of the pins and have those in other places.

My first go to idea would be to put a rectangular slot in a piece of plywood, where the size of the slot would be the width and height of the PCB board, slide the timer in the slot and glue the plywood to the fuselage skin.
It would be nice to have some mounting holes in the PCB. Another idea is hot glue put the timer in place then pack some hot glue to fill in the gap (hopefully i do not glue the switch in the process) and call it a day.
That being said I was asking you as a developer and user to what are your ideas and what are your recommendations.
Thanks Traian

If the accelerometer is disconnected can you still program the timer?
I understand that at the time of programming there is no fedback from the accelerometer for last step (check for level). But that is a one time need to do thing.
I have received the timer thanks.

Hi,

Yes you can program without the accelerometer but not recommended because you need it for leveling.

usually fixed the timer board with double sided adhesive maybe help.
