Title: Ted Fancher's Intimidation Flap Hinge Line
Post by: jfv on April 12, 2025, 07:35:24 AM
Ted:

Saw this photo of your 1982 Intimidation and noticed the interesting flap hinge line.  Could you fill us in on what your thoughts were with the arrangement? Or is it just the paint?

Thanks,

Jim V

I am sure Ted will answer when he gets a chance, but the hinge line is normal, although swept forward (big mistake).

I think what you are referring to are the paint layout that makes it look kind of like it is counterbalanced, but that is indeed just paint. The flap ends where you see tab, and where the paint goes from red to blue.

You have to admit, this is a pretty good-looking airplane!

Yes, a great looking airplane!  I thought it was most probably the paint, but I was hoping it was one of Ted's grand experiments.

A great looking plane, yes.  But I find it to be intimidating.

Looks like a aerodynamic balance at the outer ends , with paint at the inner ends cunfusing things .
