Title: Ron Adam's Intruder
Post by: Bill Little on June 30, 2007, 10:16:35 AM
I am posting this here in hopes of finding plans or other information as to Ron's Intruder.  I understand it is a well designed semi scale A-6.  I am not sure of the exact vintage. (??)  Any help will be appreciated!

Bill,
Ron was a flying buddy of my Dad's when we lived in Chicago from '64 to '66. The Intruder was big and I was six, so I don't know much about it but my father has some info. Big Art has the lowdown on Ron. I remember he was a photographer and moved on to many places throughout the country.
I understand no one has drawing of it, and I have no pictures either.

Hi guys. I remember that the Intruder was in a Model Mag in the sixties. Now I know that saying that I remember anything from the sixties means I wasn't really there but I can at least say that I don't remember which mag it was in......... I do remember watching him build it (he lived here in the Detroit area then) I even remember launching it for him. I remember what it sounded like and also how much I liked it. I just don't have anything relevant to say about how to get plans for it.................

Just "bumping" this back to the top to see if anyone can come up with at least some clues...... ;D

I still don't have any pictures of it, Bill. The Intruder was photograped in a magazine that I remember but it was one of those tiny 1 inch square jobs. I haven't found it.
I wish someone would get a pic or two out of their albums.

Has anyone called or written to the PAMPA historian?  Wynn Paul probably has the largest collection of stuff like lthat than anyone else on the planet.  H^^

Hi Ty,

Now.......... just why did you have to go and make it all simple like that?

**) **) **)

I know Wynn, I probably SHOULD give him a call! y1

Oops, I had one that FE Collier had built a few years back.  I eventually junked it, but I might have a picture somewhere....

Hi Dennis,

Thak you very much for going to the trouble of finding this plane for me/us!

All thanks to Wynn Paul!   H^^

I keep looking at this and think that it must have been taken with a wide angle lens.  The tail looks somewhat out of proportion (too small) to the nose.  I remember this being a VERY pretty airplane with the rear end especially faithful to the full size A6...

Perhaps a few more pix will surface?

The only issue  I have is with the text panel. I am very sure it had a Tigre 46. Detail, I know.............. I remember this because Big made a new Tigre 46 "RE" case for him in the late 80's. The RE conversion was a Bridgeport whittled elbow that was welded to the ST case. A real "work of Art" (as in Big...) DOH!.........

Funny,
I remember it being a big ole Veco 45. The smoke plume was awesome.
I remember it being prettier too!
