I remember seeing Brett Buck at the '93 NATS with a full fuselage Imitation.

According to Mr. Fancher, the Imitation "set up" is still a large part of the "package" that he
has flown for years.

Yours looks fantastic!

Bee U Tee Ful.

Larry, can you tell us what the covering material is? What the trim material is? And what it all is painted with?

Thanks

Heck, you will see me with the same plane at the 2006 NATs. It will be a backup, but it was good enough for second at the NWR about a month ago. Same airplane got me the 595 at the Knight's Joust in 1994. It's pretty good.

This airplane definitely stretches the definition of the Imitation to the limit. The only thing left of the original design is the fixed portion of the wing. Other than that, the flaps are about 75% larger, the tail moment is 19.5 instead of 18, the tail percentage is significantly larger. It's a long story to explain how it got that way. It's also debatable whether the mods are really an improvement, but it seems to work.

Hi Brett,

I did talk with Ted about doing a full fuselage Imitation, but since we can use them around here in profile, I will just build mine "stock".  I have soem ancient foam cores for the wing/flaps and stab/elev., they've been around almost from the time the article came out.  Going to put an OS 40 VF in it!  (probably use Paul's set up)

Best of luck at the NATS!  I might have my knee brace by then, but I will not be able to atttend. :'(  Hopefully I will get to flying by the end of July.  Right now I've got to work on driving!  n~

Sure looks nice. I really like the finish. Should be a great plane.

I plan to build a Trivial Pursuit that looks like the Excitation. I just think it's prettier.

I'll say again that I sure like this plane. The picture here currently decorates my desktop. I look at it every day. Hope you have gotten it trimmed out. At 51 oz. is should be a killer. What's the power and prop?

Man, if I could read. PA40. Original or the Ultra Light?

Randy I have flown it at the Woodland meet and was still trying to trim it but it flys vary good, I tryed adding some nose weight so I could widen the spacing on my handle , this help, and adjust the pipe for a 5.7-8 lap time on 65 ft lines eye to eyelet.  last wensday I decided to try a larger prop from a Bolie 11X4 3 blade to a Bill Lee 11 3/4X4 this gave me a  5.5 lap. it is a dream to fly and I starting to build another but with  O S 46 VF.  opps it has a P/A 40 Ultra.   #^

Randy I  used the old version with foam wings  drawn by Gerardo Papron .
but as you know I used the lost foam wing and built up fusalage.
