OK, the plans are set. Just trying to figure out how I'm going to do things structurally. I've love to figure out a way to put the battery in without having to flip the plane over and I'm looking at a possible way to slide it in from the side without compromising the nose structure, but I have figured it all out yet. The wing and tailplane are interesting. Something I haven't done before. It's, ah, clever. Certainly it will be entertaining.
I really want to put big wheelpants on this plane too, but after my last encounter with them, I'm a bit nervous about it. It's going to be important to keep thing sucker light so I will probably build my cool looking wheelpants and a secondary gear with just skirts. I was shocked to see that I drew out a canopy (yes, real plastic) but thought I would probably have to do a simulated setup. Then, in rummaging through the canopies I have, found the perfect match. Go figure. I had also consider a fuse structure ala Al Rabe, but decided to go with fairly narrow fuse sides and molded top and bottom blocks. I'm still thinking about wing structures but will use the tried and true Ted Fancher doctrine for the tailplane. Hope to have the plans done by the weekend and start building. I decided to put the classic plane I was finishing on hold and I'm pretty excited about this new beast.
