Sure Brett, I could just Post replies with text as most do, but how many people read books without photos?
Charles, adults read books without pictures,, in fact most books dont have pictures....
and by posting the same pictures over and over again you are not building interest you are building frustration
Mark,
I believe you may be correct about books with no photos or diagrams. You are 100% spot on. Kudos for that.
I can only imagine how many more issues of Popular Mechanics would have been sold if all the photos were eliminated. Same with Playboy.
Same with that other great magazine that would have been more successful without photos, Air Trails. Air Trails inspired me along with some great CL flying buddies to get my pilot’s license early on. I was 18 years old when I started taking flying lessons. The owner of our local HS had a Tri-pacer.
I wish there were more modelers like Ted. What a wonderful influence this man had on others. Oh well.
How old were you Mark when you started taking flying lessons and how long have you had your pilot’s license?
I hold quite a few ratings. The one I worked the hardest at and found most challenging was the commercial seaplane. Well, I did have my own seaplane so that made it a bit easier. This was the 80’s and mid 90’s.
What a great STOL aircraft that Lake LA4-200 was. No, I don’t miss it, I now have CL modeling as one of my primary interests. Besides, if I ever feel the need, I’ll just go buy one.
Mark, have you ever owned an aircraft, or been in with a club sharing interest in an aircraft?
Early on I had my experience owning a 1/5 interest in an aircraft along with four other members. Only one bad apple in the bunch. For a while it was difficult for the other members, as you can imagine.
Interesting and true, how one bad apple can spoil things for the others. Imagine what a few bad apples can do?
As I said, you are on to something about photos being of no useful purpose. I can only imagine how better it would be if all model magazines eliminated photos.
The Forum also, maybe all photos should be removed after a short period of time and no duplicate photos placed, even if they are related to a reply in a Thread from a new member who may have never seen the photo.
I don’t blame you for not caring about that member who may not have seen the photo the first time.
Mark, thanks again for the reply and being the voice for all the members in the Forum.
A task I don’t have the ability to take on.
Kudos!
