Title: Wire Size for a PulseJet Buzz Box Leads
Post by: Crist Rigotti on June 11, 2021, 04:58:42 PM
What size and type of wire should the leads from the buzz box be that hook up to the spark plug?  Length is about 10 feet.
Thanks.

IDK but probably the same as regular spark plug wire?

No.  The wires I've seen were a lot smaller.

I've never made one, but in general the first step is to know the amperage.

Chris,
Since the spark is high voltage low amps any 16-gauge extension cord wire will work. Spark plug wires have a lot of insulation and a noise suppression sleeve to eliminate radio noise in cars, for jet you don't have that problem. Just for safety the crew person should have on cloves to pull the lead off the plug, buzz box should have a push button ON/OFF so the crew doesn't get zapped.

Best,    DennisT
