Jim,

You can't get it anymore. It's been defined as a known Carcinogenic. Man I surely did love the smell of the stuff though.
get a gallon of nitro and go from there nitro

Jim if you want to run speed fuel it is avalabe from SIG ask for Naas speed blend in usa that is what all of us use as far as i know. 10% nitro, 5% castor, 15% klotz and the rest meth.

Jim:

Further to the previous comments, nitro benzine is a banned fuel ingregient for good reason.
Although it was actually recommended by O.S. Max in their engine instructions, that was 40 years ago
when they didn't know better. One reason may have been that they didn't have synthetic oils back then in regular use. So with straight castor oil, nitrobenzine may have been able to stay in solution at higher nitro percentages.

As well, when heavy nitro fuel mixes were used in AMA speed, (& racing) it was found that Nitrobenzine was inferior to regular nitromethane. So...even if it was quite toxic, it still was inferior to produce power...

If anything, another rather toxic substance, proplyene oxide (from 5-15%), was added to liberate more oxygen from the nitro. It can work under some circumstances BUT can also give you melted pistons & other engine damage.

FWIW, 70% nitro, 10% P.O. & 20% all synthetic oil was (arguably) as hot a fuel as necessary. Some people replaced the P.O. with methanol. Others bumped up the nitro a bit more & reduced the oil/ P.O. content.
At that stage it was a matter of the individuals preference. ALL ENGINES running such fuels had relatively
short engine life & also required an extreme maintence/inspection program. Much like a top fuel dragster.
Powerful stuff, but not for very long!

I hope this helps.

What Paul said about 70% nitro (10% PO and 20% synthetic oil)! 80% with 10% PO and 10% synthetic oil is even more awesome, but a little tough on engines. Some of this stuff is ok for bench running, but risky biz for flying.

Before that, I used 65% nitro, 5% PO, 20% synthetic oil, and up to 8% Nitro Benzine (balance being methanol). The Nitro Benzine gave me good performance boosts, tho I didn't really know why. I later read (GMA's engine article in Aeromodeller Annual) that you shouldn't run PO with methanol...I think it either said it would cause pre-ignition or maybe I deduced that. Anyway, the above mix with 8% NB was 800 rpm better than K&B Speed Fuel, which I also found out later was (only) 60% nitro. A TD .049 loves this stuff. It will make a Babe Bee .049 puke its guts, but it ran good and smelled good until the clanking started.  LL~ Steve

At the end of the high nitro days in CL Racing (1984), my Goodyear fuel was 75% nitro, 5% methanol, 20% LB625 synthetic oil. I was running a Nelson, and the more nitro I poured in the can, the easier the engine ran and the faster it went. It simply did not burn plugs and was totally reliable.

I ran the same Globee plug all spring in all of the local contests. It would not "tater", it never blew out. I got to the NATs in Reno and figured "Well, it's the NATs, I guess I should start with a new plug.".  Ended up winning GY that year, and ran the rest of the season back home in Texas on the same plug.

The rules were changed later that year to require 10% and I took up F2C instead. ::)

The bottom line, I guess, is "YMMV".  :)
