Scandinavian Weatherman Speed Postal Contests
« on: July 25, 2020, 12:09:24 PM »
Clubs in Sweden and Denmark, at least, have been running postal contests for Weatherman Speed during this summer. People from other Nordic countries have participated. I'm sure entries from other countries will be accepted.

The focal point has been the contest forum on the Swedish SLIS control line site: https://www.slis.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=17 , in Scandihoovian (Google translate often does OK between Swedish and English).

The next contest, to be flown August 22-23, has been just announced by Modellflygklubben Pingvin in Denmark: https://www.slis.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=640
Registrations and results should be sent to jg@walbom.dk (Jens Geschwendtner).

This thread has photos and results from the previous round: https://www.slis.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=634

The Scandinavian rules are very close to the SAM 35 Weatherman Speed rules: http://sam35.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/wmansprules2016.pdf , with a couple of amendments in model specification:
- Engines in Classes 4 to 7 must have mufflers.
- Using a wire between bellcrank pivot and engine is not required if a hardwood spar/plywood bellcrank plate is "firmly anchored" to engine bearers.

Nordic Rules, in Swedish, with supplements, can be found at http://www.modelflyvning.dk/media/466893/weatherman_nordiskaregler_20170507.pdf

The closest thing I have to a plan:
I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.
