Some Questions about Stallion 35

I was loaned an old  Stallion 35 to test out for the upcoming Sportsman Speed deal. I put a 9x6 APC prop on there running 5% Nitro fuel. Temps in the 40s . Open exhaust. The best RPM I recorded was 12,720 with optical tach.My question really is.....is this engine "in the ballpark" for this event? .My old Fox 35 Stunt never saw 12K on the same prop. I'm anxious to check out an Enya 35 and OS 35 on the same fuel and prop....PhillySkip

the Stallion was built on the CHEAP  meaning no sleeve taper  or piston relief .the only thing it has going for it is a bigger than the Green Head

With modern engines the name of the game is all the RPM you can get.

The historic engines seem to have a rather low RPM limit and smaller props don't help.  You might do better with a 9/7. 

I'm not sure excess oil really hurts, either.  The excess oil takes up volume in the chamber.  If the engine is set up for 29% it will run best on 29%.  The needle is set to the amount of fuel that the air will burn.  Excess oil will reduce your run time for sure, but maybe not your power.

Paul ....I've got plenty of 9x7s to fool with, thanks
Motorman....The fuel I was using was 5% Nitro 29% Castor. According to Paul's rules for the event we will be running 5% so I'll do all of my testing with 5% .I'm going to run my 3 Fox 35s in the next test session and see it they're any better than last time.
