Title: Perky Whipping
Post by: bob whitney on July 07, 2022, 11:40:37 PM
After perky day at Brodak 2022  a few of the reg competitors got together and came to a gentleman's agreement.to stop the whipping in Perky ..most of us are getting too old to whip for 16 laps, there was talk of bringing in a couple of younger combat flyers but that will take most of the fun out of it.
i hope we can get back to legal flying in Perky and put us all on a level playing field

i here that the nats and Dayton will clamp down on non pylon flown speed flights after 1st lap
 RAD
i know this will sound like sour grapes as i am only in  2nd place at 116 mph to  118 mph  top so far but as bad as the weather was at Brodak i am fairly sure i can top that at Dayton i sept .but would like to see all official speeds before July dropped and we start from scratch

what do u all think

Why not just use the pylon?

Brodak doesn't have a pylon

Brodak doesn't have a pylon
Usually that is handled by a gentlemen's agreement among the competitors. Are there no gentlemen at Brodak's?  ;D  ;D

Why not just use the pylon?

Perky rules do not require a pylon.  Even in the cage at Muncie, the pylon is removed for Perky.

It hard enough keep up with a Perky at 110 MPH on 52.5' lines, let alone get ahead of it.

Are we talking about a little twist to the body or arm straight back?

My brief reply is that I support the effort to bring our flying techniques more into line with national standards.  It really is supposed to be about the airplane and not the athleticism of the pilot.  We have two more meets scheduled for this year and will  conduct them with this in mind.  I also think that we should leave this years scores in place and move forward with a new outlook as suggested by Bob.   TS
