Title: Perky Speed awards for 2019
Post by: Paul Smith on April 13, 2020, 11:11:51 AM
My trophy shop, Highest Honor of Troy, Michigan, did a great job on the 2019 Perky awards.  I was expecting to do nice presentations at The Brodak Fly In and The Nats, but the Brodak is cancelled so I will have the settle for mailing out the winning award.

As you can see, I was able to get a pictures of Al's plane on the award in lieu of the historic Perky.

The traditional "closest to average" award goes to F2A World Champion Carl Dodge.  For the first time in Perky history the closet to average did over 100 MPH.

I still holding Carl's award in hopes of an AMA Nats or Dayton contest.

My response the worldwide lockdown is to make the next Perky Postal a two-season event beginning when we get fly again and ending November 15th, 2021.

That is to say, if you can get a score in I will accept to now.   And please attach a nice picture of you model in case you win an award.

Yes, not much fun without competitors!

Yes, not much fun without competitors!

Yeah, I know.
I cleaned up my one remaining Perky.  It needed a bit rehab after a big day at Rouge Park last fall.  With the help of the Londkes, Ed Brzys, Ron Colombo, and Mark Warwashana, I got in about 20 flights, but did not improve my 5th place standing.
I guess now I'll have time to make a new one with not much else permitted.

Please send me Al's address so I can mail his award.

 Hi Paul,
That is a beautiful a looking award and it will be a honor to accept it. Thank you for taking the time to run and organizing the postal Perky event. The competition is really competitive and I had to battle back to stay in the game. I was hoping that the Brodak contest would still go on as planed, but was very disappointed to learn that it's canceled. I always liked competing against everyone at Brodak because it's a level playing field with some of the best modelers in the world.
Al
