We got to fly in some of the best weather ever yesterday. Temp 57, Humidity 35%, density altitude -281. This made for some really good power once we got adjusted for it. The relatively low attendance allowed us to spend the time to get the best out of everyone's ships. We also had 3 or 4 timers for each flight and averaged the clocks to compute speed. I mention this because the numbers were significant. Here are the results.
Fox Speed: Al Ferraro 111.59 APC 8x8 trimmed
C. T. Schaefer 109.52 APC 8x9 trimmed
Jim Vigani 106.383 APC 8x8 trimmed
Dave Edwards NT
Perky: C. T. Schaefer 122.241 NR Kelly/Willoghby reworked
Jim Vigani 117.39 Super Fora APC 6.3x4
Dave Edwards 93.958 Fora APC 6.3x4
Ernie Evon 91.39 Cox Conquest APC 6.3x
Commentary: We spent time working out bugs and trying a couple of props on Ernies plane. The final flights produced solid runs and provided some good data for further development. I'm pretty sure that once we get his combo fine tuned it will top 95. Daves plane was troublesome but when working well will 'do the job'! Jims Green Machine was screaming with the APC and broke the previous record. Al wanted to run some other props but we ran out of time/energy. We spent some time with my plane to get the needle and launch timing correct, all the time inching up towards the 'one good flight'. It came off smooth and turned on quickly as the speed built up for a few laps.It was as perfect as we have seen! Power is the Nova Rossi as received from Planet Hobby. I use a .275 venturi and I selected one of the 5 Kelly props that I have had since 1976. I think I got the right one
Thats all for now, CTS
