The Perky Event at Lafayette Esquadrille's Old Time Contest, Buder
Park, St. Louis, Mo. on October 12, 2008 was won by a newcomer, Nic
Angeli with a speed of 65.02 mph. There were 7 entries and the average
speed was 65.707 mph. Nic's Perky was build from a "Blackhawk" kit.
It was powered by a Thunder Tiger .15.
The other speeds included Tim Pansic (OPS .15) at 91.69 mph and Bob
Arata (Fox .15X) at 62.10.
Nic Angeli joined Lafayette Esquadrille in 2007 (I think!). It was his
first contest. On the other end of the speed spectrum, Nic also won
First Place in the SAM Slow Flight event with a speed of 12.? mph.
That was 5 mph slower than second place. He flew a 1940's freeflight
converted to control line. I think his plane was powered by a
McCoy .099.
