So, I had one good flight, followed by three fiascos, and now a decent 5th flight.

It has a new landing gear, a new motor, 0.6 ounces of tip weight, a lowered leadout guide, and an "illegal" 7x6 prop.

Now it goes like a Brodak Clown racer, not a Cox PT-19.

Would be interested to know if it goes faster with the spinner on.

I damaged my spinner when I got blown in on the second flight.  I will not risk another spinner unless I enter a contest.  I doubt that there is any advantage to the spinner.  It's just a matter of getting legal.

Furthermore, with the the left hand rotation and no left handed prop shafts, keeping the prop and spinner on is a real issue.

I have a bigger E-carrier plane that really NEEDS a spinner to look right.  But the Bad Ass motor keeps throwing the prop and spinner when I race the throttle (OK, ESC). The nylock nut keeps me from losing the bits, but the flight is terminated.

I discussed this with Doctor Bad Ass in hopes of getting him to offer a line of left-handed studs for his motors.

I got it in the air again today.  Totally contest-legal except for the missing spinner.  My batting averge is now up to .750 with one crash and three successful.  If time permits, I will get a time at The Brodak.  All I need is one holder and one timer.  Unlike gas, I can set up and do a Perk E run in under three minutes.  No messing with the needle valve and flying laps to run out of fuel.

What does that extra piece of fuselage under the outboard wing do?

0.67 ounces of sheet lead tip weight.  A little better acceleration doesn't do any good if the plane blows into the circle.  If I get in a contest and need one or two MPH to win, I can take it off.

Turns out Paul didn't have the "after market" radio throttle setup to provide full throttle!  See my NATS write-up here for details....

BTW...No one threw the spec required prop during the NATS.
