Title: Midwest CL Speed Contest - St Louis, MO - May 14-15
Post by: Fred Cronenwett on November 28, 2021, 10:51:05 AM
This is our annual CL speed contest that has all CL speed events being flown.

If you have a Fox 35 powered model it can be flown in Fox 35 speed - If you don't have solid lines, we will have some available that you can borrow for your flight. Remember there is a best Average award, you might just win the best Average award!

Come see some of the best F2A flights, Jet speed, Perky Speed and everything else

John Moll will be our CD for this contest

It is contradictory in that the events flown on 70' lines are listed, but it also says no 70' lines. Someone should fix that.  ???

I will ask John Moll what he is going to do with the events that fly on 70 foot lines. It can be done if you stay perfectly in the center without drifting but....

I have a C speed model that may be flyable by then so I have the same question

Dan McEntee took the time to invite me which I appreciate. I have a sport jet that is currently flyable and I am going to plan on attending. I need to make some lines and a dolly for the jet. Plus I need to recreate the ground support and starting equipment. I'd like to fly fast jet also but with the length limit that may not be an option.

Just talked with John Moll and he confirmed the following

Fast Jet has been flown at this location before but have to stay at the Center of the circle and do not stray if you flying with 70 foot lines. If the pylon is not in your way you can hang on to that and use the pylon to know where the center is at all times.

The CL speed fence was put in before the 70' lines were put into the rule book. 65' and shorter lines are no problem.

The other thing is that the only person allowed in the speed fence area is the pilot, the pit person launches the model and quickly gets out of the circle which is easy to do

Mark - We hope you can make it Patrick Hempel was flying his sport jet back in Sept of 2021
