Marking a Speed circle

(1/2) > >>

BillLee:
Assume you have a nice, new patch of asphalt for flying our speed events. The asphalt is new, there are no markings on it.

I have already installed a pylon mount.

Keep in mind that this will not be used for any other use, just to fly speed. But ALL KINDS of Speed!

The question for you: what circles should we paint on the asphalt?

Thanks.
Bill

BillLee:
Information:

The FAI rules specify a circle at 3 meters and another at 21 meters. This roughly correspond to a 10' radius and 69' radius.

I do not believe there are any specifications for AMA Speed events.

Regards,

Bill

Carl Cisneros:
Bill
you can round the 69' to 70' (for US events), and also
with the B,Dand Jets, make one painted circle out to 80' radious as well.
Their min. line length in AMA is 70'.

Carl

Motorman:
Just paint one big 80' radius safety circle, no real need for anything else.

Mike Hazel:
Yup,  80 foot radius safety circle is what we do in these parts.
