how do  you measure   both eliptical a nd stgardard wing area

The area enclosed by an ellipse is πab, where 'a' and 'b' are the semimajor and semiminor axes and π is Archimedes's constant. In the case of a circle where a = b, the expression reduces to the familiar πa2.

scott. thanks for your reply. what I was trying to find out does thickness figure in  when your trying to come up with say 45 square inches on a standard wing.
