Question for Paul. It is understood that we will use 5% nitro fuel this year but will fuels with different oil contents be available or just one for everything? If one, how much oil?? Thanks, TS
-
I'll go with one fuel per the last Saint Louis rules.

Paul I'm finishing up my Sportsman Speed plane, looking great . I'm not familiar with St. Louis rules .What fuel will I be putting thru my 1960s OS Max III ? How much Nitro ,how much oil? Thanks,PhillySkip

I will host three speed events:
Perky & Fox 35 will use the fuel that the rules specify.
The Sportsman event is a Brodak-only event without established rules. I will provide a few different 10% fuels with different oil contents.
Perky has 20% oil. Fox 35 Stunt has 25%. Brodak Clown & Foxberg use 22%. So if I bring some 29%, that should cover anything anybody wants.
20, 22, 25 and 29.

Here's a pic of my Sportsman Speed entry for Brodak's this year. A Brodak Shoestring,OS MaxIII mill .She's almost ready for primer. Monokoted wings, elevator and stab. Fuse has 6/10 oz glass cloth. Micro balloons and finishing resin for wing fillets, tail plane, and cheek cowl. She's light and straight......Skip

No. We will use the published rules for each event.
For Perky, 10-20-70
For Fox 35, 5-25-70
For Sportsman, any blend with 10% nitro.
I have avoided changing the rules of Perky and Fox 35 Stunt.
Sportsman is my unique event, created at the request of those who want to compete without machining a special Fox 35.

The Max III was a powerhouse for a plain bearing blackfin engine. Not much good for hot starts, but that's no problem in Speed. There might be a good number of healthy old ones around, since they were retired by the ST C35 & the G21.

I've got my Sportsman Speed ship all finished. Waiting for clear weather to do some testing. I had some trouble with the decals, as the decals refused to lay down on a slightly curved surface.Has anyone experienced this with Brodak water slide decals? In any case the bird finished up at 28oz rtf. Pics to follow.....Skip
