with CA it should be a one night build.

Bob,
How's the E-Perky coming? How are you going to finish it? Seems like a good candidate for MonoKote. Post some pictures.

Best,   DennisT

Dave Rigotti

Not an oversight. Latest BOM, Build instructions, and photos are available for download at clspeed.org
Enjoy the build....

When you go to the link click on the rules section then scroll down to Perky - E Perky.

Any chance of publishing plans?

Best,    DennisT

Dave Rigotti

No published plans. The kit at $70USD includes everything but motor, esc, prop, battery, spinner, and finish. Glue not included of course. It's a excellent value! No need to attempt a scratch build.
Remember guys, as AMA requested from NASS, this is intended as an introduction to control line speed type event using electric power.  Speed has other events for the usual crowd.  Accept it as it is intended.

Just to understand one point - the profile fuse is that 1/2" or 3/4" limit? I think in scale they use 3/4" max, I don't know what speed has used?

Best,   DennisT

Fred C

Profile CL Scale uses the 1" max fuselage thickness, CL profile Carrier has the 3/4" fuselage thickness.

I think the rules needs to specify the max thickness of the wings and fuselage just in case someone wants to scratch build from Perky Plans

Fred

Paul Smith

I would interpret it like 1/2A Scale.  Profile is PERMITTED, but you could go all the way up to full body if you want.
I doubt that anybody would quibble about wing thickness.
Real Perky has been far too generous, in my opinion, letting inverted and sidewinder engines being the worst offense.

AMA use to have a profile fuselage definition based on engine class. Perky would be "A" so 3/8" max? That's plenty enough to be structurally sound and have a bit of airfoil. If you're trying to fully streamline it behind the spinner then you're missing the spirit and intent of the event.

Just support NASS and buy the kit. You could have it built in less time than you are wasting pounding on your keyboard.

Rules question: maximum model weight of 20 oz, with or without battery? It should probably specify.  ???

Motorman

Links to stuff not in the kit please.

Considering all the many many limitations, it weighs what it weighs, except for glue & paint.
You have good point, sir.  Maybe it can't be built under 20 ounces.

Dave Rigotti

With battery, ready to launch.
Pull test is a fixed 25#, not 32 times weight for example. Makes for a simpler running event.
I'll revise when i get back from Perth.
This is why all documents are downlaoded and not included in kit.
Thanks Bill!
BTW...prototype came in at 16 1/2oz ready to launch with 3S 1300mah lipo.

Any pics of Bob's build yet?

PerkE rules have been updated to clarify 20oz maximum weight.  It might take overnight to get uploaded to clspeed.org.
They are dated 05 12 2026.

Looks like from ground zero you could be up for about $200.

Can you use either prop for CCW flight or is the pusher required?
Can the belcrank be on the outboard side of the fuselage?
How many flights do you get from one battery charge?

Thanks, MM

Paul Smith

Getting into an event with an equal chance for $200 is cheap money.

Having flown E-carrier for two years I can say this for sure:  You might get two or three flights off a charge, but each flight will be slower than the first.  Don't bother flying with a battery that is not charged BEYOND the max.
