Carl Dodge 1972 FAI speed model
« on: April 24, 2016, 09:02:49 PM »
Carl Dodge flew his F2A model that he flew at the 1972, 1976 and 1982 World Championships at our speed contest here in St Louis. Interesting to see the difference in the models that are flown today. This model flew at 139 mph, now they are approaching 180 mph.

He has that shuffle style I could never do. It's good because, if you get behind a little you have a cushion. I have to run with my left foot on the right side of the pole but the plane is always close to going behind your left shoulder if you slow down. It's funny flying these because after a few seconds burst of speed your brain naturally tells you to slow down. You have to mentally overcome that instinct to fly F2A.
