Title: .21 Profile Proto question
Post by: Dave Rigotti on August 27, 2021, 11:53:08 AM
I'm building a .21 profile proto speed plane.  For those that have built one.....Do I glass the wing and stab?
The wing is from 3/8" sheet outlined in basswood.  The stab is from 3/16" sheet also outlined in basswood.
If so.. what weight cloth to use.
I plan on using Z-Poxy to seal the wood and paint it with Klass Kote.
TIA

Dave,
The "new" NASS .21 Proto Speed Class has only 3 guys  that have built models.   Glen Van Sant, Henry Nelson, and Myself.   Mine, is built much like many of my other models. Balsa framed in Bass for the wing and stab.
I cover the model parts including the Fuselage with  .6 0z Glass Cloth.  I also use Z-Poxy. I have also used Bob Smith epoxy, both with good results.

Can you post some photos and rough plans that work. What engines are being used?
