Hello Everyone,
I'm pleased to announce that we will be adding F2G Speed to the 2025 USA F2A Team Selection Finals Contest.
This past winter, F2G has been awarded FAI Category 1 status and will be contested at the 2026 F2 World Championships in Perth Australia.
The F2G Team selection finals contest will mirror the F2A Finals event.  Four rounds over two days. The average of the best two rounds will be your score.
The dates for the team selection finals will be Saturday Sunday, September 27/28, 2025.
The site will be Buder Park Control Line Field, Valley Park, Mo.
https://lafayetteesquadrillecl.wordpress.com/lafayette-esquadrille-cl/control-line-buder-park-st-louis/
The F2A/F2G finals will be run concurrently with the F2A Cup of Canada world cup event.
The Entry Fee for the selection finals will be $50.00 and can be paid on site to the contest management.  No FAI Sporting License is required for the Selection Finals event. Only a current AMA License.
Please note that because this is a new category for the F2 World Championships, the AMA will NOT be providing any funding for the F2G Team.
For more information you can contact me at: williamhughes4@att.net

From 2015.....MUCH progress has been made since then.  In fact, F2G is regularly faster than F2A now even with .018" lines.....

I was going to say, I think USA can do better than that smoking mess. Is anyone in USA flying these? I hear they use the APC 6.5x6 which I have a mold for if anyone is interested in going carbon fiber. I'd like to know more about this speed class. If you guys know of any resources like rules, articles or plans let me know.

Thanks,
MM

The rules are on the FAI site:
Battery: 6 cell, 26 volt max charge, 200 grams.
600 grams for the whole model.
Other than that, just like F2A.
Oh yeah, RC motor control via a ground controller is permitted.

In the absence of limitations, F2G could beat F2A and thus soon be saddled with more limits.

As per the video of a burning model, pressing the limit is the essence of ALL speed; models, full size, land, air, water, whatever.

The speed of an F2G model has already surpassed the F2A models.  They already increased the wire diameter and decreased the size of the batteries.

Does my posting indicate the current limits?
I looked it up August 4, 2025.
