Got a new never run 1960 G20 2.5.
I sent it to Jim Lee for a new venturi and NVA. It's set up to run a bladder. I just like setting them up that way. I'll use it for my first M-line A speed build later this year.

nice engine. Build a dizzy Boy or a Kansas Twister for it and you'll be right in the swing of that era.

You could also build a Pink Lady.
I'm building a pink lady for formula 40 with a K&B 6.5 RIRE. Wood wings though. I don't want to go find aluminium for one project. Lol. Probably a pink lady later for C speed also.

The ladies are nice, but as you say, finding .010 alum is difficult, that's why the Kansas Twister recommendation. Also a full pan is a much stronger ship in the event of a rough landing.

I was looking at that. The pink lady is cool because I had some half pans laying around.
Next year I'm thinking will be an A speed year for me. This little ST in a twister and a Cyclon in a perky. Then I've got some Nelson 15's. Those gotta be good for something!!

I looked up the dizzy boy, and you're right. But it calls for a McCoy 60 on the plans. It seems the classifications changed for engine sizes?
One of those old Harter kits would be real fun to have now. But I have plans and plenty of balsa / basswood laying around

Bob Lauderdale, like a number of other Speedmerchants, scaled his basic design to suit all of the AMA Speed classes. The published Dizzy Boy plan shows a chart for Class "A", Class "B", and Class "C" versions. He also did a Class "1/2A". They were all pretty small planes. The Harter kits were named Dizzy Boy for the Class "C", Dizzy Bee for the Class "B", and Dizzy Bug for the Class "A". There was also a published Dizzy Bug the was F.A.I. legal.
The Kansas Twister was kitted for Class "A", Class "B", and Class "C". All used the same wing but had increased tail areas as the engine size increased.

It's interesting how the world works. I guess the Lord really does work in mysterious ways. Brings us friends from everywhere. Someone saw this post and found a way to help me get something I probably would not have been able to get.
A NIB Kansas Twister! Then Mark R had some engines on the classifieds, so I ended up picking up this nice 1965 G15. I might just be able to clean it up a little (new spinner) and find something to run it in!

Looking at the differences between the G15 and G20 2.5.
The intake is off center and the G15 has a 6 bolt head. Oval venturi vs round. Very different cases.
Anyone have experience in the run differences?

If the G.15 is in good shape, it will be considerably faster than the G20

Not sure but I may have an unused spinner for the G-15.

Cool, I was hoping that was the case. The G15 is actually in really good shape. That spinner is the only issue.
Mr Schaefer, it would be really cool if we could work out something as a replacement for this one.

Thanks sir, I don't need a trainer at this point, but a reasonably competitive plane. I've never built an M line plane for myself. In the works now is a pink lady, built as per Bill Wisniewski's article in the AMA mag. With the k&b 6.5.
A Kansas twister for A speed, and a 1/2A speed plane. I have all the equipment for the 1/2A plane, and a few sets of plans, just haven't decided what plane yet.
I've been focusing on sport jet and 1/2A profile proto. I pretty much squeezed all of the speed out of my jet that it's gonna give. And it's not competitive. So, gotta build a new one.

that's an ambitious and serious set o planes there Dane. I have enough problem with a few at any one contest without introducing 1/2A into the mix. Just test ran the new D engine

I just read through that and got excited. Started looking for D speed engines. Lol. I better not get ahead of myself. Gotta finish what I got going on!
