1/2A PT-19 Project
« on: May 17, 2017, 09:24:45 AM »
I've been fighting a back injury, so I've been spending a lot of time at the 'puter designing.
This is one of the newest things coming out of the "skunk works" as my wife calls it.
I wanted to push my programming abilities AND my machine to see what we were both capable of.
This is a totally carved body for my PT-19. The design is 2 pieces, what I call a clam shell body.
The original plastic fuselage weighed in at 76 grams.
The carved balsa one pictured below is only 23 grams! I had to widen the fuselage a bit to get a Black Widow inside.
I will post here periodically as this is a slow going project. ( I'm the one that's Slow Going!  ;D)

Awhile back, Daryll White had sent me a brand new Cox Hyper Viper, which I am also developing with the same process.

If there is enough interest I may kit these.

Thanks for looking

I would also buy one or two sets

Even thinking I could adapt one of my Ace Foam core wings sets

cool project and good looking work

I have been very tempted lately with the new lower cost Laser and Pin router DYI stuff--- but the software is still terrible and the gantries sound very fiddly

Just getting a look at this thread and wondering what the progress is? The Cox model I would like to fly the most is the original TD-1 with the metal wing. Duplicating that fuselage and building a built up balsa wing interests me, as does the PT-19. Got a wing figured out for it yet?
Hope your back is doing better!
Type at you later and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
