Tucson "1/2A" Multi-Engine Profile Scale results
« on: October 19, 2007, 02:30:38 PM »
Mike Keville's novel idea did happen...(Oh, Lordy, he also started the VSCs...!)

Placings and models:

1. Keith Trostle - Tupolev 95-D Bear
2. Jim Hoffman  -Lockheed 10 Electra
3. LeRoy Black  - Messerschmidt Bf-110 Zerstorer
4. Bob Whitely  - NA F-82 Twin Mustang
5. Michael McMillin - Lockheed P-38M Lightning (see pix of this'un in building in that thread.)
6. Currell Pattie* - Dewoitine D.338 tri-motor      *proxy-flown by Bart Klapinski
7. Ted Kraver   - Boeing B-314 Clipper

Rules oddities: Sorta-profile scale static judging; each engine limited to 0.061 cu in; no in-flight functions, throttle or taxi tasks required; 10 flying laps all-running to qualify. Pull tests roughly according to total displacement (with a margin above AMA specs). Real planes modeled must be propellor driven. 'Charisma' (undefined) factor included in scoring.

Saturday, Oct 13, practice, test and static judging. Got windy fairly early. LeRoy's Bf-110 blew off the static judging table; minor damage, repaired and flew Sunday.
Sunday, Oct 14, static judging late arrivals, qualifying flights. Heard it was GREAT weather! (I only saw Sat., couldn't get back for Sun.)

Notes: All engines used were NorVel or AP, except 3 BabeBees on the Dewoitine D.338. Keith's Tu-95 spans 55 1/2" on 4 .061s.

Mike hopes to do it again, next year. Pix posted on "another" site.
