Title: Sterling's C-5 Polish Fighter PZL P. 11
Post by: John Craig on November 18, 2014, 06:37:24 AM
It would be my first & perhaps only attempt at a sport scale.  I have always found the looks of the plane fascinating.  I will do a white version because of my age; grey/silver/ olive drab are just to hard to see at my age & our flying field.

Suggest an engine?  I have a few classics OS, ST, K&B, &  more modern engines?

Throttle?  Muffler?

Where to find documentation?

You need a muffler and a good working throttle of CL scale.  Just buy the OS that fits the plane and you're in business.  You will have nothing but trouble trying to retrofit throttle & muffler to an engine that doesn't want them.

According to listing the wingspan is 36' and they're getting $83 to $115 on auction sites.

That model is of the one and only prototype, before they changed to the production engine.  So you'll have a much harder time finding scale documentation for it.

You may want to get documentation NOW, and if you can't find enough for the prototype, plan on remodeling the nose during construction.

The P-24, which is said to be the production version of the P-11 is documented on pages 11 & 12 of the Complete Book of WWII Combat Aircraft.

I have some PZL books at home and can see what I have there, but you will need throttle control, lots of choices in that department

You can use 3-line or use the 2.4 Ghz systems which are very well proven. check out my youtube channel that shows some of the options available for throttle control, everything from 2 stroke, four stroke, electric...it's all been done

This is our club website that has a scale page that you might find helpful

The books I have don't cover the P.11 that well, but found some pictures on airliners.net, great looking aircraft....

There is a thread in the Scale forum about this model.
Here is a link to some really nice 3D modeled drawings of the prototype in light grey and red.
