Rules changes in general,,,
« on: February 17, 2010, 07:40:46 PM »
In the past, there used to be scale classes that required highly detailed models that took years to build and didn't fly very well.  These events included "just plain scale", Precision Scale, Designer Scale, Museum Scale, and F4B.  What these events had in common was that they were dominated by two or three highly skilled craftsman and pretty soon nobody else entered and nobody bothered to run contests any more.

Today we have three pretty popular events that minimize building and give 50% weight to flying in two events and 90% in the other.  That seems to be working.  One problem is the few refugees of the older events that would like to morph Profile, Sport, and Fun into the old Precision Scale.

If they want no go back to the old way, they should just push a movement to resurrect one of the old events.  We need to take a good look at the dots in the 17+ proposals and see where they might lead.

As the originator of most of the Rules Change Proposals along with Dick Byron, You can be sure that the survival of CL Scale was in our thoughts when writing these Proposals.

First off most of the Rules Change Proposals I submitted were to correct errors that were caused by the elimination of Precision Scale.  Most of the rules in all areas of modeling are written for the "Primary" event and then exceptions or additional rules are added for each additional event in that type of competition.  Previously  Precision Scale was the "Primary" event so the rules were written for that event with exceptions being written for the additional events in CL Scale, Sport Profile, Designer and etc.

The biggest change I have proposed was to switch the "Entry" event from Profile Scale to Fun Scale as that makes more sense to me than the way it is now.

Paul, I would suggest you (And All interested modelers) go to the AMA web site and read each of the proposals submitted by Dick and I with these thoughts in mind.

I have read them and I agree that most are clean up in nature.  I for one would like to give a big  H^^ to Clancy and Dick for taking the time to keep our wounderfull sport alive. As a newbee in the sport I rely heavily on others who are more knowledgeable to guard the integrity and well being of controll line scale
