Chris Brownhill and the Toronto Balsa Beavers did a great job orgainzing this major event at the usual venue, Centenniel Park, in the shadow of Lester Peason International Airport.  This was sort of an "alterantive Nats" in that the traditional MAAC Nats was not held this year.

2nd - Gorden Gimbert - 159 - Junkers 288 with twin LA 25's.
3rd - Jack Humphries - 149.5 - Fairly Battle - electric.
4th - Paul Smith - 146 - S.P.A.D. XIII with OS H35.

Sport Scale

1st - Jack Humphries - 160.5 - Fokker Universal - electric.
2nd - Paul Smith - 157 -Consolidated PB-2A with FP40.

Second group of fo-graps.

As reflected by the scores, all the entries in both classes flew well and survived for the static scoring, which, by local custom, is done after flying.

Great to see scale having a decent turnout.  Why static after the flying?  DOC Holliday

It's sort of a local custom.  Potentially a few less planes to judge?

The upside is, it encourages everybody to fly, not just the static winners.

I might suggest it is to use the nice light wind in the morning to fly them, then static judge while the afternoon wind is blowing.
Static scores aren't used until the model is flown using AMA rules anyway, so the end result is the same. No model in AMA gets any score until it has qualified in flight, no matter what old 60's stories are told by Paul! I don't know about Canada.
Great to see a good turnout in a scale contest, thanks for the pictures.
