Title: polikarpov I-16
Post by: bob werle on April 05, 2010, 08:17:45 PM
Does anyone out there have or know of a 3-view for the 2 seat version of this little fighter?  I think it was designated uth4  or uht4.  It is an interesting mod to a cute little plane.

Thomas thank you for the photo and the correct model #.  I did some more searching with the correct model and found a 2-view (side and top) that will let me get started on the working drawings.  Thanks again

The Flying Heritage museum near here has an I-16 single seater. Let me know if you need info, I can probably swing by there at some point.

Bob Banka of Bob's Aircraft Documentation lists 10 different 3-views for that airplane in his catalog.  These vary in quality from fair to outstanding.  He also has photopaks of the airplane.  40 photos, in color, of a replica built from original parts  If you are really interested in this airplane, Bob's catalog is worth looking at.

For those that are interested in Banka's collection, his catalog lists over 39,000 3-view drawings and he has over 400,000 photos in stock.  Many of those photos were taken as a modeler would take photos of a full scale aircraft for scale documentation.

Some of the 3-views are of limited value, but others are quite good.  In some cases, even though the 3-views might not be of highest quality, sometimes they are the only thing available.

I have gotten several of BOb's 3 views and photo packs. All were tops in quality.
