Title: Phoenix Models from Tower
Post by: John Rist on February 12, 2009, 11:02:57 AM
Has anyone looked at the Phoenix Models as listed on Tower.  Are any of them close enough to scale to qualify as fun scale?  For instance the Extra 300s has tail number N43RX

Google of N43RX did not turn up any such aircraft.  I guess the question is how scale does it have to be to qualify.  The outline looks OK but I suspect the paint job is bogus.  Any thoughts ????

John, check out the Fun Scale documentation requirements in the rules. Note that you can get 0-5 for outline and 0-5 for markings. Combined with the 100 flight points, the static is not a deal breaker. You are probably looking at a 3 or 4 outline score and if you find some/any red paint scheme documentation you'll probably get a couple points. Not many fun scale models get 5 and 5.

Thanks Chauck,

Sunds like if you can get it to fly like crazy that it would work.  Also good thought about the red.  Find a red real one and do a little matching on the model.  All cool stuff.  If I have time I may do it for the nats.  Becides this is fun scale ---- to fly is to have fun.

A quick search of the net and look what I found.  SO close it will take very little to match

I looked a little more and found the same tail number before it got all of the company logos.  Now it's reall easy to bring the ARF Extra 300S up to speed.
