That would be Jerzy Ostrowski of Poland. He was twice world champion in 1972 and 1976.

In 1982 Jerry flew in Kiev. He came in second that year. I have an extensive photo collection of the aircraft. He was killed in Afghanistan during the Russian conflict there. I remember we were discussing what we did for a living during a conversation in Steve Ashbys and my room in Kiev. Jerry told us he worked in an umbrella factory, with a wink in his eye. He was , not only a world class modeler , he was a friend.

Hello Gang -
Thank you Chuck and Dick.
In 80's when I was teenager, Jerzy follow sb's example. He was my idol in aeromodelling. Because I'm from Poland too.

Do you know that Jerzy build in 80's an homebuild aircraft called "Ostrowski's biplane". That plane survived to this day.
