Title: New scale idea?
Post by: L0U CRANE on December 27, 2006, 12:27:06 PM
That guy who started the VSCs last century may be at it again...

He mentioned something about a "fun scale" gathering a while back, and has now put some basic details together for trying it.

Full details are in the Events calendar for October 2007 and forum. (I hope)

What it is, is multi-engine, profile, 1/2A Scale. 'Metric' 1/2As allowed (0.06s).

Simplified flight requirement: min of 10 laps with both (or all) running.

Just a fun thing, not to go for blood and glory. 'Nuff challenge as is.

I think that idea sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe even 3 classes, .049-.074, .09-.15 and .19-.35, all x 2!

I had been reading the thread on SSW about this event, and he is planning on keeping the first one to 0.051 or smaller engines, and correct me if I'm wrong but a bonus for each engine over two. The event is planned for next fall.

Leroy,

Top single engine displacement is 0.061 cu in/1.0cc.

Mike has also added word that we'll use the AMA CLPA pull test loads for total displacement.  AMA CLPA specs are the default for types of CL flying that don't have specific event requirements. Proxy flying will be allowed.(One guy, so far, told him he couldn't attend, but would like to send a model for someone else to fly!)

We'll have to see how this one goes, then consider what to do with - or about - it.

Lou Crane already responded that the engine displacement limit is .061 per engine.  Also, in the rules that Mike has published, there is a specific statement that no bonus will be awarded for more than two engines.  So a multi-engine model with 4 or 6 or 8 or 12 engines will have no advantange over any twin based just on the number of engines.

If you go to the ''Events Section'' and look under ''1/2A Multi-Engine Profile Scale'' the rules are all there and looking good. eric
