Title: Nats entries
Post by: Allen Goff on March 15, 2015, 05:28:21 AM
AMA is staring to post the 2015 Nats entries and their are four of us entered so far. Please get entered early, like very soon. Remember our trophy count is based on our entry count. If the numbers are not correct and you, say finish third, you might not get an award and that would be sad. Enter!
As for "Team Scale", only one of the team members pay's, we have two teams so far.
Did I mention get entered soon?  LL~

As of Feb. 22nd, we have 5 competitors and 13 aircraft entered. Sad to say there are no "profiles" entered yet, hum?
This is better than last year's entries at this date. Keep on coming, get entered...........
Summer is just around the corner, I think, and the Nats will be here before you know it. Later.

Allen:

I just got a bit of bad news regarding the attendance at the Nats. A lot of this sort of thing, that is, scheduling, vacations, workloads, etc. that prevent a person from registering too far in advance of the actual date. In my case, my surgeon told me that I am going back in the hospital for a resection (damned Crohn's). He said I will be in the hospital for two weeks. That leaves me just two months to get my strength and balance back so that I could fly at the Nats. It has been three months since I left the hospital the first time and I am not completely back yet. So it looks like I will have to blow off the Nats this year. That is a tough move when one considers that there are so few left. I am building a Nieuport 28 for Fun Scale. Intended to bring it to the Nats. Wings are done, just started the body. Oh well, next time.

It looks to me like the current non-refundable entry fee is $45 with a $50 late fee after June 22.  So many people wait until very close to June 22 if there is any doubt.

Plus $25 for the first event.  Extra events are $20, but there's no late fee for extra events.

So the count doesn't mean much as this point.

To quote the last poast ; "So the count doesn't mean much at this point."

[/quote]
The count means everything as far as how many trophys AMA will plan for and furnish.  That's why we stress early entry.

Isn't June 22nd also the trophy count day?

As of Mon. 6-15-2015 the C/L scale count is 13 pilots and 26 aircraft.

FYI.......those who wait till the last minute make our work harder to coordinate the paper work, static judging set up, the circle assignments just to mention a few. Charlie Bauer does a lot of work in these areas that goes unnoticed so help him out by getting registered early. Thanks Charlie.

Ahhh, wellll, I could be mistaken, (often am), but do I see an ANVIL on top of the plane in the last post?  We usually hide the nose weight inside, ya know.  (Hadda tease ya.) LL~ LL~

On a serious note, I am so excited to see SEVEN entries in authentic this freshman year for the event!!!  #^ #^   Wow, that is simply great!!  I only regret not being able to static judge them this year. HB~> HB~>

Will,

I will be doing the Nats News this year for CL scale, when you say "film authentic scale and post it" is that what you mean?

What I like about the entry totals is that there is nice balance of entries in the all of the events, we will be flying all day! People are going have to be ready to fly when they get out into the circle.

Fred, I'll take anything and everything I can get!  And wherever I can get it!  Make me feel like I'm there, okay?
I'll be on the nats news like a duck on a Junebug!
And while I'm here and on the subject, you're doing a bang-up job for MA with the scale column, thank you for doing that. H^^ H^^

Friday will be a busy day, should be lots of fun..
Will, you will be missed, but Mike Eber won't mind since he has been moved up to "head judge".  LL~

Are they going to leave it up to the contestants or not as to fly or not fly.  I see you guys took a lot of flack last year.   I know I've been event director for racing and carrier.   Left it up to the contestants as to fly or not fly.   Lost a few carrier planes, but then we also found out who had been practicing in the windy conditions.

Jim,

I see you're using "PLANKING" on that model.

How come I get my head ripped off for using planking on the Mig-3 and you don't?  LL~

Can't wait to see progress on this one!!

Nice building techniques and a nice model.  H^^

Thanks!  I appreciate the kind words but I guess folks like your Mig-3 more than my B-29.  ;D  I was once told "If you can't say anything nice .... say nothing at all" sooooooooo maybe folk are following the old saying!! ;)  Besides, next to your work, I'm an unworthy and most humble rank beginner .... Jim,

You must have the Mig-3 mixed up with some other model because I received plenty of hate mail on that Mig-3 build.  ;D

I believe about three modelers like it, and only two admit it.  LL~ LL~ LL~

Have you decided on the scheme for your B-29?

If you go with vinyl, I'll be glad to help you out with the graphics or paint masks.

Glad your taking photos and Posting your interesting and challanging project.  H^^

Isn't today the static judging,  with first flights Saturday and finish on Sunday?   I hope the wind dies for the week end.

Static judging today. Pilot's meeting 0800 tomorrow. First flights @ 0815 - 0830. Wind may be a factor. Many nice planes. Check NATS News tomorrow for pics.

Got 2 rounds in today. Light to moderate winds with gradual improvement throughout the day. A few pilots elected not to fly. Most flights were successful, save for some of the usual technical gremlins. There were no crashes. Read Fred Cronenwett's reports in NATSNews. Lots of nice photos.

Greetings!  I wasn't sure if this site was going to be receptive of the project so a couple of folks wrote to me and suggested that I should post on RCGroups, so after checking with one of their moderators that's what I did.  You can follow the build :http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2445342.  I honestly hope it's acceptable.
