NASA Scale Classic

There are 46 aircraft entered in the NASA Scale Classic, 16 of witch are C/L and I know of one more 1/2A to enter and that will make 17. Looks to be a pretty good turnout for the first annual invitational. See you in Oct..

Looking at the numbers on the NASA website it looks the breakdown is as follows:

RC Fun scale/ WW I themed (invite not required)   -  21 entries
RC has sent out 31 invitations with 9 confirmed registered (29% registered)

CL 1/2a scale (invite not required)         - 5 entries
CL Fun Scale                                        - 3 invites / 2 registered
CL Profile Scale                                    - 8 invites / 4 registered
CL Sport Scale                                     - 5 Invites / 5 Registered

68% of the CL invitations will attend the scale classic

Registration is up to 60 aircraft, 18 Controline . I see where there is a B-17 in team scale R/C, that will be great to see fly. Maybe (Lord will'en) we can get a picture of Ed Mason's B-17 with it.

Static was done today after one heck of a rain storm, Allen's Waco and Grant's Spacewalker were also present

Flying will start on Saturday

Weather did not cooperate this year at all, and we did not get any flights in due to extreme wind and cold

So final places were determined by Static scores

Sport scale

1) John Brodak          89.75 points
2) Allen Goff              88.25 points
3) Ed Mason              87.0 points
4) Grant Hiestand       86.0 points
5) Jim Fruit               85.0 points

Profile Scale

1) Joe Eiben                84.5 points
2) Fred Cronenwett     78.5 points
3) Bill Avera               76.5 points
4) Harry Crespo          60.0 points

Fun Scale

1) Ed Mason                  9.25 points
2) Allen Goff                 9.25 points
3) Bill Avera                 8.0 points

1/2a scale

The B-17 was beautiful, 3 years in the making and 6,000 hours. I'll post more about this model later.
The Tiger Cat had two, 7 cylinder radials, this thing sounded awesome when it fired up. These two planes were "bad to the bone".
