I can't resist posting this picture of a beatiful Musciano designed Spitfire, which was built and recently completed by a friend in Toronto. It's done in Johnny Johnson markings. He also has a Me109 and P51 built and is in the process of finishing them as well. Walt would be proud of his work.

Very nice, sign that man up! How about some details?

Back in the early days, (60s) many of Walter Musciano's scale designs were published primarily in American Modeler Magazine. One of his articles (Triple Threat) included plans for a Spitfire, ME109 and P51. My friend Gordon in Toronto is an artist and scale C/L modeler. Gordon decided to build all three triple threat models in honor of Mr. Musciano. His models have period correct engines in them (K&B Stallion and Greenhead .35s). His ME109 even has a scale spinner that was custom made for him by another friend of mine in Winnipeg. Here's some interesting pictures of Gordon's other triple threat models.

Hello Dennis,
I met Gord when he contacted me
about the Balsa Beavers/Toronto Musciano held
Sept 26. He hitched a ride with me to our " out
of town" circle. The weather was patchy so the
Spitfire stayed home. Gord is pleasant company
and we're looking forward to seeing him next spring.
We have arranged for Lenny Bourel (1st Brodak's/
Advanced 2009 etc.) to test the plane for Gord
so it will be in very good hands for the first
flight(s). Needless to say that it's something to
look forward too.
The picture shows Paul Smith (2nd)
Chris Brownhill (1st) and Lenny (3rd) at the event.
Mr Brownhill is well known to those who fly scale
at the US Nationals. He can throw a Musciano
around pretty good too!
Cheers! - Keith Morgan

Very, very cool models, and quality work too. More pictures please... ;D

Gordon's model are beautiful. Please send more pictures and notes on flying them. Nice to see such well turned out ships in the smaller size. Are they 1/12th scale?
Chris...

A few more pics of Gordon's triple threat models under construction:
Note, the multi blade props are for display only.

That Musciano "Triple Threat" appeared in the Dec 52 issue of Air Trails. They were drawn up to 3/4" = 1' scale witch was pretty much the standard scale that Walt Musciano published a large number of CL scale designs for a number of years. Air Trails sold the Triple Threat plans as one set. For a number of years, that was the no. 1 selling plans of all time for Air Trails. AMA now sells plans separately for each of those three airplanes. The AMA listings for these designs are:
Spitfire -- AMA Plan # 35468
North American P-51 -- AMA plan #23095
Messerschmitt Bf 109 -- AMA plan # 23059
Air Trails did another "triple threat" several years later which included the Grumman F4F Wildcat, the Hawker Hurricane and the Mitsubishi Zero.
Interesting stuff.
