Kalamazoo Navy Carrier Scale
« on: February 20, 2019, 10:05:09 AM »
Last summer I competed in Kalamazoo's first attempt at a new US Navy Carrier scale event.

This is (I believe) a gesture to recognize The Navy's support of the Kalamazoo Air Zoo.

You have to use a US Navy model (no marines or foreigners) and takeoff and land on a deck.  But it's a Scale event, not carrier, so you get static points and flight points, but no speed points.

Since it's "over water" there are no touch and goes or taxi laps.  This means you can't hardly get the whole 100 points for flying, but that's the same for everybody.  I did OK retrofitting an existing model in 2018.

This year I'm trying to do better and hoping they do the event again.  If not, it also fits the Nostalgia Profile rules.

Are there a printed set of rules that can be posted?

Also have the dates for the Kalamazoo contest been finalized?

I'm hoping they have it again.  I was just a customer.  I can recall the rules.

Static judging 100 points, per AMA Rules.

US Navy aircraft only.

Takeoff and landing from a deck.

The only flight options were those that could be done over water ( thus no T&G and taxi lap).

Question: How do you get 100 flight points?  Answer: Most likely, you can't.
