The West Michigan Smoke Rings are hosting a CL Scale contest on July 28, 2018 in Kalamazoo, MI
The flying site is right next to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo Air Museum that has a lot of great looking warbirds - go for the contest and spend some time looking at the warbirds in the museum
Sport, Profile, Fun, 1/2a and Carrier Scale are being included

It went very well. Five events in one day at a nice venue.

They pioneered a new event: Navy Carrier Scale. This is sort of feature for Navy Annex to the Kalamazoo Air Museum, The Air Zoo.
The concept is basically Profile Scale flown off a carrier deck, so you can't do the touch & go or the taxi lap.
The flight starts will a FULL power takeoff and ends with an arrested landing. There are no high & low speed scores, just Scale scoring.
Of course the model needs to be a Navy carrier type.
I was able to add a hook to my existing Bearcat and get it to land the first time.
I was too busy flying to get many model pitchers, but this is their newly restored MiG-15.

Interesting!
There ya go Fred, the deck & arresting gear are all in place...

Righto. They have the full flush deck setup, ropes, bag & all. We could have flown actual carrier if we had time.
