I remember that back in the 50's, the FAST raced scale Schneider Cup models and had a semi-circular tank for taking off and landing. Does anyone have information to share about that--old magazines, photos, etc? I remember some beautiful craftsmanship on those models.

I vaguely remember seeing pictures of the float planes flying off a circle of water way back when I was much younger. The magazines I am sorry to say got ruined when my basement flooded several years ago. :(

Hey John, get hold of me by e mail, I have a lot of the info that you are looking for. I built, or dug, a "pond" here in Roseburg for the Regionals--1998 thru 2001, we had great participation. I have the article you are looking for and much more.
