Title: electric retracts
Post by: Fred Cronenwett on November 09, 2014, 07:06:37 PM: I loaded a youtube video showing how electric retracts can be hooked up with a gear door sequencer using 2.4 ghz controls. If you don't need doors that are sequenced to the gear omit that item and it really becomes easy.

Electric retracts plug into the receiver and behave like a servo. Flip the toggle switch on your controls and the gear goes up and down. Some of the RC car transmitter are not setup correctly to control a toggled item like retracts. The transmitters that hang on your hip have toggle switches that will work these items with no problems.

Better, yes, but NOISY!!! Gotta figure out some way to quiet them down. I am going to try to wrap the operator in foam rubber as a start.

Post by: Fred Cronenwett on November 11, 2014, 04:09:01 PM: The retracts pictured are from RcAerodyne, but I don't like how to they retain the landing gear wire in the retract unit so I have decided to use them the demo board for testing. I have picked up some metal retracts from hobby king and currently testing these units.

For bigger models I think this type of method for retaining the strut is more durable and allows for better alignment of the main wheels so that the model tracks better.
